GRATITUDE FOR FOOD CALEDON
Gratitude for Food has been actively engaging Caledon residents in understanding how everyday food choices can help combat climate change. Through education and outreach, the group highlights practical, accessible actions anyone can take—such as eating locally, minimizing food waste, and choosing responsibly grown, plant-based foods more often. Their work empowers individuals to see food not just as sustenance, but as a powerful tool for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and building a more sustainable future.

JUST EAT IT, CALEDON - FOOD WASTE CHALLENGE
Just Eat It, Caledon! empowers residents to take action on food waste—one of the most accessible climate solutions we all can support. Through awareness, education, and practical tips, the challenge helps build the knowledge and skills needed to reduce food waste at home. With easy-to-use resources available year-round, Just Eat It, Caledon! encourages lasting change in everyday habits for a healthier planet.
Just Eat It, Caledon! has been modelled after a similar campaign designed and run by Dufferin County, Plan to Save - Food Waste Reduction. We thank them for sharing their resources and findings with ecoCaledon.

CHOP + CHAT
Gratitude for Food has been meeting up, at the Palgrave United Community Kitchen, on a monthly basis since March of 2022 - chopping and sautéing their way to help reduce hunger in Caledon.
Chop and Chat provides visitors at The Exchange with healthy, plant-based frozen meals made from locally sourced ingredients. The project supports families facing rising food costs while reducing food waste and greenhouse gas emissions. By partnering with local grocers and farms like Mount Wolfe Farm, Chop and Chat strengthens the local food economy and promotes sustainable, low-impact eating.

FOOD + CLIMATE: HOW TO EAT TO SAVE THE PLANET
When we think about the causes of climate change, fossil fuels are usually top of mind. But as Project Drawdown points out, the impact of our daily meals—from farm to fork—can be just as significant.
Food + Climate explores how the choices we make around food affect the health of our planet. This project invites the community to discover practical, people-friendly food solutions that also reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Learn how eating locally, cutting food waste, and embracing more plant-based, responsibly grown options can become powerful actions in the fight against climate change.
“ecoCaledon and PUCK partner to host the Community Cooking Club, a group of friendly volunteers who gather monthly to cook healthy, plant-based meals to enjoy together and donate to the CCS Exchange Food Bank.”
